Services

Three things to buy. Each one is design and engineering done by the same people, which is the only reason the second is ever finished the way the first was drawn.

01POSITIONING / NARRATIVE / STRUCTURE

Brand & digital direction

A clear account of what you are, who it is for, and how it should look and behave — settled before anyone starts building.

Most digital work goes wrong before the first screen is designed, because nobody agreed what the thing was arguing. Direction is the part that makes that argument explicit and testable: the proposition, the audience, the order information should arrive in, and the visual and verbal register that carries it.

The output is not a mood board. It is a set of decisions written down, with the reasoning attached, so that every later choice can be checked against something rather than relitigated.

Deliverables

  • Positioning and proposition, written
  • Audience and journey definition
  • Art direction: typography, colour, imagery, motion register
  • Identity design or extension of an existing one
  • Design principles the build can be held to

02ARCHITECTURE / PERFORMANCE / SCALE

Websites & digital products

A site or product that is fast, accessible, maintainable by your team, and looks like it was made on purpose.

Design and engineering are the same job here, done by the same people. That is not a slogan about collaboration — it means the interface is designed against what the browser can actually do, so nothing is promised in a mockup that has to be quietly dropped in the build.

Everything ships with the unglamorous parts done: semantic markup, keyboard paths, reduced-motion behaviour, real content at real lengths, and a codebase whoever inherits it can read.

Deliverables

  • Design system and component library
  • Front-end build — React, Next.js, or your existing stack
  • CMS integration and editorial modelling
  • Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA as a build requirement, not an audit
  • Performance budgets, measured and enforced
  • Handover documentation and a team walkthrough

03TIMING / WEIGHT / CHOREOGRAPHY

Motion & immersive experiences

Work that moves — real-time 3D, scroll-driven narrative, interface motion — built to degrade gracefully rather than to demo well.

Immersive work fails in two ways: it runs at nine frames a second on the device the client actually owns, or it is beautiful and says nothing. Both are avoidable, and avoiding them is most of the discipline.

Every moving thing is built with its still version designed at the same time — not generated by switching the animation off. Device tiering, reduced-motion, and WebGL failure are treated as three more art directions, each of which has to stand on its own.

Deliverables

  • Real-time 3D for the browser — WebGL, React Three Fiber
  • Scroll-driven narrative and camera choreography
  • Interface and transition motion systems
  • Device tiering, with a designed still edition at every tier
  • Performance profiling on the hardware your audience has

MethodFour stages

How a project runs

  1. 01

    Discovery

What is being built, for whom, and what would make it a failure. Constraints surfaced early, while they are still cheap.

  2. 02

    Direction

The proposition and the art direction, settled together and written down, so the build has something to be checked against.

  3. 03

    Design & build

One team, in the browser, from the first week. Real content, real devices, real measurements — no phase where the design is not running.

  4. 04

    Launch

Performance and accessibility verified rather than claimed, documentation handed over, and your team shown how to run it.
